Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the resume writing process work?

I will send you an email explaining exactly what you need to send me. There is no tedious questionnaire to fill out. This should not take more than 1 or 2 hours of your time. If you have questions you can call me personally. I will guide you through the process.

Should a resume be 1 page long?

Your resume needs to convey all of your relevant qualifications briefly and concisely. For many people, this requires 2 pages. Some people tell me they have heard the resume "must" be 1 page. This is simply not true. Don't pay attention to people who are hung up on the current resume writing trend of the month. On the other hand, if you are certain you want a 1 page resume I can easily create that for you.

What is the turn around time?

Generally your resume will be complete in 2-3 business days from the time you provide me with complete information. Incomplete information can cause delays. If you are in a rush I can often provide your resume in under 12 - 24 hours at no additional cost. This "extreme rush" service is not always available. Call me if you are in a rush and we can discuss.

How much does it cost?

The price is $99 for entry level, $149 for people with more than 3 years total work experience, and $199 for senior management, professionals or IT. This price includes all necessary career documents - your resume in MS Word, a targeted cover letter, thank you letter and ASCII resume for posting on job search web sites. If you are shopping for a service, be sure to get the price for all of these documents up front. Many companies advertise a lower basic price, but letters and ASCII files are extra, pushing the price up significantly.

Who will write my resume?

I will personally write your resume. I am an internationally published, professional writer who has written thousands of resumes for people in almost every conceivable career field. My past clients include Hollywood producers and CEO's of leading corporations. If there is a more qualified resume writer out there I have not heard of him or her. I will not pass you off to a junior writer. You will deal only with me, on the phone and via email.

Is online ordering with Cutting-Edge-Resumes.com safe?

Absolutely. There is no risk whatsoever. If you dispute any charges I immediately refund your money. I am bound to do this by my agreements with the credit card companies.

How do I order?

You can fill out the secure online form on the order page. Or you can call me directly. I accept VISA or MasterCard.

Why are your prices lower than many online resume services?

I have extremely low overhead. There are no receptionists, web designers, managers or writers to be paid. I pass the savings on to you. I also have a business philosophy of working for the lowest price that is fair to us both, not the maximum price the market will bear. This results in very happy customers and a lot of referrals.

Why are your prices higher than some online resume services?

Some companies hire inexperienced writers (often college students) at very low pay. The writer will cut and paste your information into a resume template. The end product is generally very poor quality. These writers usually earn $20 - $50 per resume. How much time and effort do they put into it for $20-$50? Not much. Be careful if considering one of the low priced services. You are creating a document that could change the course of your life. Make sure you will be working one on one with an expert writer.

What is a "certified" resume writer?

This means the writer has been through a brief (and incredibly expensive) training program. It is no guarantee that the writer is an expert, professional resume writer. Rather, it is a minimal qualification only. I began the process a few years ago with a well-known certification agency, and rapidly discovered the process was a joke. I knew so much more about writing than the people "certifying" me it was ridiculous. It seemed like a bit of a money grab on the part of the certifying agency to me.

What if I have further questions?

Please email me or give me a phone call. I will quickly answer any questions you may have.
